A leading UK logistics specialist with port centric located facilities and a large fleet of vehicles, my client provides highly efficient 3PL solutions for the receiving, handling, storing, picking, packing and distributing of goods around the UK.

With over 100 vehicles in their fleet and with excess of 1.5M square feet of available warehousing including bonded warehouse services, they complete over 120,000 container and general haulage moves each year. They provide UK road transport services specialisingin full and part loads to clients across all sectors including FMCG, manufacturing, engineering, construction and many other industries.

Due to expansion, we are exclusively recruiting for a Business Development Manager to report in to the Commercial Director. The focus of the Business Development Manager role will be to devise an effective business development strategy to target new clientsfor their transport needs. You will seek to use a variety of different methods and techniques to identify key contacts within a target list and book meetings with them. You will look to become a preffered partner and win new business clients whilst buildingrelationships.

**Job Duties**:

- Devising an effective business development strategy to sell road transport solutions such as full loads and part loads
- Proactive generation of new clients through phone and face to face meetings
- Converting all incoming leads and opportunities
- Promoting our brand to new clients and partners
- Building new relationships with target clients
- Managing existing relationships and seeking to develop and expand these relationships
- Converting ad hoc business to contractual, long term business
- Managing a pipeline of leads, activity and prospects
- Negotiation of contracts
- Working with key internal and external stakeholders
- General administration and completion of leases
- Working to set targets and KPIs

**Person specification:**
- Previous logistics industry experience is essential
- Experience within a business development or new business/sales role is essential
- Tenacity, drive and perseverance
- A strong relationship builder
- Excellent negotiation skills
