**Job description**:
We’re looking for a Head of Data to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting into the new Executive Director of Digital, Data & Technology you will develop, embed and maintain the data strategy and an effective data governance framework. You will lead highly technical data teams and data project workstreams to develop a high performing team and culture to support the organisation in leveraging our data capability as a strategic asset.

**Your responsibilities will include**:
**Data Strategy** - Be accountable for data strategy development and implementation against Corporate strategy, ensuring it remains relevant, making the best use of data and compliance with all necessary regulations.

**Leadership** - Lead specialist data teams including data governance, data quality, data architecture and data engineering to ensure activities and focus are aligned against regulatory and business objectives.

**Assurance** - Be responsible for the assurance of the data estate including the framework of internal control for data and implementation of data policies and procedures.

**Change** - Lead data elements of the change portfolio. Business owner of the data platform ensuring that critical regulatory data is visible and accessible to staff.

**Data enablement** - Senior stakeholder management to ensure understanding of data initiatives and data products/uptake of data use to embed a culture of best practice data use across all business areas.

**Skills and Experience**:
**Collaboration and influence**:You will be an effective relationship builder, with a proven track record of influencing effectively at all levels, including in environments where there are partnerships with competing/conflicting priorities. Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the effective maintenance, control, and governance of data. You can manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions about high risk and complexity even within constrained timescales.

**Strategic focus**:Experience in defining and implementing strategy, policy and process for information management and records management, against corporate objectives. You will have experience of setting direction for data work programmes which directly support strategic organisational objectives, working across boundaries so that the right people are involved to deliver. Capability to ensure that the data strategy remains relevant to the business, is aligned to the data sector and enables the best use of data whilst complying with all necessary regulations.

**People Leadership**:You will be an engaging, open leader and people manager committed to building capability, coaching, and developing diverse staff groups to be high performing teams. You can solve and unblock issues within teams or departments. You understand the psychology of a team and have strong mediation skills.

**Project and Programme Management**:Demonstrable experience of programme/project management and methodology. Experience on project boards, leading projects, and collaborating in transformation programmes. You know how to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices **(Desirable).**
