Who are we?

The Develop Directorate are a diverse wholeforce workforce, of approximately 200 people who have the responsibility for delivering the future military capability, by creating a first-class project control and management functions across a diverse portfolio which aims to support our operational commitments. We get the opportunity to influence the investment choices around what the military capability does and does not require, at what level of urgency they are needed and to maintain operational effectiveness today and to deliver advantage in the future.

There are three key elements in achieving our ambition:

- Reset the Royal Navy, preparing a solid foundation for success within the 2040 time frame, by making the Navy capable of adapting at pace and scale. The Future Force Mix, Maritime Operating Concept and National Shipbuilding Pipeline will collectively offer a rationalised view of the capability visions for 2040, to define how the maritime force will fight 5 to 15 years ahead.
- Develop and sponsor military capability, translating strategy and policy into capability projects in the Royal Navy portfolio by launching the right change projects/programmes to transition to the future.
- Drive innovation and experimentation to enable the Navy to understand, evaluate and accelerate the exploitation of new and potentially disruptive technologies and practises in order to stay ahead of the threat.

**Job description**:
The DEVELOP Directorate is large and complex, covering Force Development, Capability Sponsorship, Programme Delivery and Capability Planning. Due to the size and span of the Directorate the Business Management Team is required to support all functional business activities, programme management and governance as well as overseeing ‘business as usual’ elements of capability output.

The Develop Business Support Services Lead role ensures that all Directorate support activities are actively managed and actioned in line with business need and in support of Develop Strategic Objectives and business outputs.

We need someone who can,
- Support, facilitate and co-ordinate delivery by providing key military advice to Director Develop, Chief of Staff, and our wider senior management team by being involved in a range of portfolio areas to enable timely delivery of the Directorates key requirements.
- Utilise all Navy Command management tools, to support the Directorate to deliver at pace, on time and to budget across all business areas to inform priorities.
- Hold strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied portfolio, with the ability to manage a range of events, handling logístical details, coordinating effectively across a range of differing needs.
- Ability to manage a varied and uneven workload effectively, involving ongoing business-as-usual activity.

**Responsibilities**

**Finance**:

- Manage the collation of all Business Financial Information and act at the Directorate Electronic Procurement Card (ePC) Manager.
- Developing and maintaining business profiling mechanisms, supporting the Delivery Manager with financial analysis against spend & completing the annual profiling for the Directorate.
- Management of CP&F activities.

**Information Management**:

- Oversee all Information Management activities, providing advice, guidance and assurance to the Delivery Manager, SIO and IAO.
- Develop and implement Directorate wide Information Management Approach and Plan.
- Establish and oversee all information management processes within the Directorate, ensuring alignment with JSP441.
- Represent the Directorate at Information Management forums, boards and working groups.
