**Primarily a maternity cover contract**

**Summary**:
Bira is a not-for-profit membership association representing independent retail businesses throughout the UK. As Marketing Manager, it will be your responsibility to manage a small team of Marketing Executives and to develop, coordinate and implement multiplecommunications plans for membership engagement/acquisition and service growth for both existing and new member businesses. A keen commercial outlook is essential to drive member growth and hit financial objectives for service uptake throughout the year.

Through inspired multi-channel activities, you’ll deliver compelling personalised messages to targeted audiences, igniting action and reinforcing the organisation’s integrity. You will start conversations and support new business development objectives,lead generation and sales targets. You’ll devise and deliver targeted campaigns creating a steady flow of qualified leads for the membership team to convert as well as recruiting members directly through the website.

This is a challenging, diverse, and hands-on role offering a breadth of responsibility including marcomms, brand development, thought leadership, digital, CRM, networking and events. Working closely with the Director of Membership & Marketing, operatingat a senior level and responsible for liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, you’ll have the credibility and confidence to effectively engage and influence, and you’ll be driven by results, ROI, and accountability.

Your role as Marketing Communications Manager will have a specific focus on two main areas:
1. Net membership growth through retention and recruitment

2. Increasing member engagement and loyalty through service uptake

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Management, co-ordination and mentoring of a number of Marketing Executives, who support different areas of the business

2. Planning and project management of all marketing linked to membership engagement and acquisition

3. Collaborate on and deliver a company-wide membership marketing communications plan

4. Planning and scheduling all member communications & maintaining a calendar of all activity

5. Direct line management of the marketing team

6. Lead nurturing and generation in support of sales and driving growth across multiple sectors and services

7. Supporting the Director of Membership & Marketing with service partner relationships and developing/delivering on affiliate marketing plans

8. Working closely with senior colleagues to devise and deliver service uptake campaigns and ensuring that key services get adequate exposure and uptake

9. Working with relevant agencies on the conception, design, and the internal production of all membership marketing collateral

10. Creating, writing and leading on content creation across all channels including (but not limited to) membership newsletters, blogs & social media.

11. Conducting market research and insight - suggesting new ways of delivering membership marketing campaigns and activities with a clear focus on lead generation and recruitment.

12. Lead on, deliver and analyse membership surveys and other research to guide marketing plans and activity

13. Develop targeted and segmented communications programmes using CRM data

14. To hit financial goals and targets and ensure that all activity is delivered to a high standard and to budget.

15. To build an in-depth knowledge of members and be proactively involved with them at all possible opportunities

16. To be aware of and engage with key trade issues and trends.

17. Working closely with the Web and Digital Media Manager to ensure the website and social media is updated with key marketing messages and content

18. Support the Web and Digital Media Manager with the digital marketing strategy, contributing ideas and opportunities for improving ROI

19. Working with the Membership Manager to improve membership recruitment and retention.

20. To support the Director of Membership & Marketing in delivering to financial goals and targets, maintaining a high standard and best practice

21. Agree metrics for and analyse the results of all marketing activity and present findings and recommendations on a regular basis to senior management

22. Be a CRM and data advocate and drive data use and analysis for targeted communications

23. Identify opportunities for membership growth), segment and gain marketing insight to develop well-informed targeted marketing campaigns

24. Lead nurturing and generation in support of sales, driving growth across multiple sectors, products and services

25. Monitoring and reporting on competitor activity

26. Ensure a coherent brand presence, messages and tone of voice across all membership communications and touchpoints

27. Provide or request training and development for self and others, to grow the skills and capabilities of those delivering marketing to support membership recruitment/retention

28. Attend meetings with or on behalf of the Director of Membership and Marketing, as and when required

29. Raise the profile of marketing through internal communications about any membership marketing campaigns and activity

30. Adhere to all the necessary internal and external compliance, legal and regulatory frameworks

31. Ad-hoc projects and other work as required by the Director of Membership & Marketing
