To work as part of a multi-agency team of staff to provide an integrated approach to the delivery of services that achieves the principal aim of the Youth Justice Service, this is to prevent offending by Children and Young People.

To work within the requirements of the Youth Justice Board National Standards and all relevant legislation, through direct contact with young people and their families to deliver oversight, supervision and support across a range of statutory and voluntary provisions.

Cheshire Youth Justice Services work with children aged 10 to 18, to reduce the risk of further offending, harm to others and to reduce concerns for their safety and welfare. The post holder will need to have the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with children to help them to gain and maintain pro-social identities, to achieve their potential, and to reduce the risk of harm to victims and communities.

The post holder will need to have a social work or probation qualification. Or a relevant degree (youth justice, criminology, psychology, etc.) which would need to be accompanied with the Professional Certificate in Effective Practice in Youth Justice qualification. The post holder will need to be able to demonstrate strong assessment skills, and have the ability to work effectively within a multi agency team, and with external partners to work with children to reduce concerns relating to risk to others and to themselves.

We welcome creativity and relationship based practice, which takes account of and responds to the needs of children who have offended including an understanding of how their previous adverse experiences may have contributed to this.

Cheshire Youth Justice Service work across Cheshire West, Cheshire Easy, Halton and Warrington. This post is to be based within the Cheshire West area, however there is an expectation that work could be with children from any of the local authority areas that we cover, with this including being on a duty rota and attending court on occasions.
