**The Role of a Port Operative**:

- Quayside duties including slinger banksman and labouring
- Working hold and hatch
- Operating plant and equipment inclusive of Forklift Trucks, Payloaders, Cranes, Material Handlers and Skidsteers
- Full adherence to Health & Safety procedures at all times
- Discharging and loading a range of commodities inclusive of bulk, break bulk, containers and steel
- Previous experience working in a port enviroment is highly advantagous however other back grounds considered e.g. Construction, Demolotion, Groundworks, Recycling/Scrap Metal
- CHIPS course is highly advantageous but not essential
- Plant licences; Forklift truck, Material Handler, Crane, Payloader, Skidsteer is advantageous but not essential
- Previous experience in a port role is advantageous but not essential e.g. Port operative, lasher, forklift, tug driver, slinger banksman, shovel driver, crane driver, dock worker, mooring
- Health & Safety conscious at all times
- Team player and keen to learn new skills
- Keen to learn new skills and pursue a career in ports
- Flexible approach to work
