Temp Works Coordinator

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Ø
The TWC will ensure that no works are carried out on the erection, loading or dismantling of any Temporary Works unless all procedures have been followed including where appropriate the availability of construction drawings and methods.
Ø
Ensure that those responsible for on-site supervision receive full details of the design, including any limitations and guidance notes associated with it and prepare a specific method statement
Ø
Ensure that checks are made at appropriate stages and sufficient time is allowed
Ø
Ensure that any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate action taken
Ø
Ensure that any proposed changes to an approved temporary works design are identified, documented and approved by the temporary Works designer prior to implementation.
Ø
Ensure that any agreed changes, or correction of faults, are correctly carried out on site
Ø
Ensure that during the use of temporary works all appropriate maintenance is carried out
Ø
The TWC shall authorise any works on the erection, loading or Dismantling of the temporary works by issuing a duly complete Temporary Works Permit. The TWC may authorise the TWS to carry out inspections as required. After a final check which is satisfactory, ensure a permit to load (bring into use) is issued by either the TWC or TWS, issue formal permission to load/bring into use

Throughout the Temporary Works the TWC will carry out daily inspections which will be recorded on the Temporary Works Inspection Form
Ø
When it has been confirmed that the permanent structure has gained adequate strength and/or stability, ensure a permit to unload (take out of use) the temporary works is issued by either the TWC or TWS
Ø
Ensure that a documented safe system of work is in place and implemented for the dismantling of any temporary works
Ø
Ensure that the TWS's are operating in accordance with the approved procedures.
**Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications**:
- Relevant technical qualification, degree in Civil Engineering, BTEC, HND or HNC
- 5 years minimum relevant TWC/TWS experience
- They have carried out the role of TWC on a large infrastructure project
- They have carried out a role on site where they have managed a team;
- They have previously been appointed as a Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) on
- Externally delivered CITB accredited TWCTC
- Principal Contractor Temporary Works Familiarisation Training
- Extensive knowledge of BS 5975
- CSCS Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course
- Scaffold Awareness course
Individual competence is defined as an appropriate combination of education, training and experience for the assigned task:
- Have experience of operating in a complex construction project environment across multi-disciplinary areas
- Carry out the assigned duties at the level of responsibility allocated
- Understand any hazards related to the work (or equipment) under consideration
- Detect any technical defects or omissions in that work (or equipment), recognise any implications for health and safety caused by those defects or omissions, and be able to specify a remedial action to mitigate those implications
- Management and leadership: Ability to plan and manage, particularly people and resources
- Independent Judgement: Ability to identify limits of personal, and team's knowledge and skills
- Health, Safety and Welfare: A sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work, ability to manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility
- Interpersonal Skills and Communication: Ability to communicate well with others at all levels, ability to discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence.
