Lancaster, United Kingdom Lancaster University Full time

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty of Science and Technology’s (FST) professional services team. We are looking to recruit a highly-motivated Departmental Officer to provide effective management and administration services for the recently rebranded School of Mathematical Sciences (formerly Department of Mathematics and Statistics). This is a particularly interesting time for the School as it is currently undergoing a period of investment and expansion and is in the process of planning an upcoming building relocation.

The Departmental Officer is an important and varied role supporting smooth operations and working closely with the Head of School. The role supports operational excellence across all of the department’s activities, overseeing governance and facilitating the effective management of resources, including human resources, and planning. The Departmental Officer is the key point of contact for the School with the wider university professional services and successfully coordinates internal/external working partnerships and relationships. The Departmental Officer is also a key member of the FST professional services team, working alongside peers across the six other FST departments, the Faculty and the wider university to respond to change, share best practice and deliver continuous improvement.

At Lancaster University we support each other by being open and fair, and promoting diversity. We build strong communities by working effectively together in a supportive way, and we create positive change by being ambitious in our learning, expertise, and action.

**THE BENEFITS OF THE ROLE**
- Generous holiday leave - 25 days (pro-rata) annual leave plus University closure days and bank holidays.
- Access to employee pension scheme, and annual flexible benefits scheme.
- We are committed to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the Faculty, and supporting family-friendly, flexible and agile working policies on an individual basis. We are members of the Athena SWAN Charter, a scheme which recognises and celebrates good employment practice for women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in higher education and research.

The Faculty of Science and Technology is a community of seven departments engaged in world-leading research that makes a demonstrable difference to our economy and society. We offer a range of degree programmes that are among the highest rated in the UK in terms of the quality of teaching, the quality of the student experience and student career prospects.
