Engagement & Wellbeing Worker **(Night and day positions)**
Hours of Work:
36 hours pw (shift rota to include days, nights, weekends and public holidays)
Grade / Band:
£10.80 per hour (£20,779.20pa pro rata )
Based at:
The office base has limited wheelchair access. The post holder will be expected to travel to different venues, including service users’ homes that may also have limited wheel chair access.

**Main Purpose of the Role**:
To engage with and provide support and reassurance to our vulnerable and complex needs service users. To enhance emotional wellbeing, build confidence, resilience and self esteem. To promote independence and enable young people with complex needs to progress through the levels of service and develop relevant skills to sustain accommodation within the local community.
Maintain the safety and security of young people, their accommodation and other bespoke services, providing a ‘first response’ in dealing with out of hours emergencies and concerns.
**Tasks and Responsibilities**:
- Engage and build positive relationships with service users to offer reassurance, support and promote independence
- Ensuring that service users understand and follow rules and health and safety requirements
- Maintain a visible presence in and around the premises (both core,dispersed and bespoke where necessary) outside of support worker hours
- Ensure service users are seen regularly and in accordance with any support plans.
- Escalate issues relating to the safety and wellbeing of service users in accordance with New Roots policy
- De escalate volatile and aggressive behaviours appropriately
- Respond appropriately to any emergencies and challenging situations
- Ensure all rooms can be accessed by tenants and replacement keys/fobs be provided where necessary
- Undertake health and Safety checks/routine checks on fire and other emergency systems and maintain records.
- Monitor and regulate access to the building/s
- Respond to the complaints and grievances of tenants
- Carrying out minor repairs e.g. changing light bulbs
- Report breaches of security and damage to the fabric/fittings of the building in line with New Roots guidance
- Ensure communal areas and offices are kept clean
**Organisation and Administration**:
- Maintain electronic records and files, in accordance with New Roots Policy and the requirements of GDPR
- To be aware of and comply with all New Roots policies and procedures
- To work as part of the wider team to ensure the Mission and Vision of New Roots Housing project are met.
- Actively participate to any support, supervision, team meetings, training and development opportunities (which may take place before or after normal shift patterns).
- You will be required to use your own vehicle for which New Roots will pay appropriate allowances as well as being on a rota to drive the company vehicle and work as the designated peripatetic staff member on shift.

- Experience of working independently in difficult and stressful situations
- Experience of lone working and as part of a team
- Ability to follow organisational and relevant regulatory policies

- Respond to emergencies and diffuse difficult situations in calm and reassuring manner
- To be able communicate effectively and appropriately with a range of people and situations, including the ability to actively listen
- The ability to implement equal opportunities and work in a non-discriminatory way
- To be able to accurately and effectively record information and use ICT

**Personal Qualities and Physical Requirements**
The post holder will be required to travel across the district.
The post holder will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check before employement.
