Humber Teaching NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a therapies assistant apprentice commencing on band 2 and working toward a band 3 Therapies assistant working on Newbridges Acute Unit within the Mental Health Unplanned Care Division.
As a Trust, we see the value in supporting the development and progression of our people through apprenticeship pathways, combining vocational learning with on-the-job experience. You will undertake a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship whilst you work closely with your new team to gain the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours for this new role. The duration of this apprenticeship will be 15-18 months and on successful completion you will progress into a Band 3 therapies Assistant role.
This post is aligned to the therapies team and as such you will collaboratively with the psychology and Occupational therapy team to facilitate therapeutic activity, group work and individual work in support of the registered therapists identifying specific needs and meeting them through the provision of a diverse programme of activity, interventions and engagement with patients and staff on the unit.
You will be supported with supervision both individually and as part of the peer group as you are highly likely to come into contact with situations and circumstances which you may find emotionally and physically tiring.
To support the registered Psychologist and Occupational Therapist through the following:
- Identification of psychological and occupational therapy need in support of discharge.
- The undertaking of screening assessments and contributing to specific assessments within the allied Health Professional Team.
- To provide a flexible and varied programme of group and individual based activity to promote social inclusion.
- To be an active member of the wider clinical team to support and deliver safe and effective care.
- To ensure a high standard of documentation is undertaken to support communications both within and without of the team.
