**Commercial lead Inside**IR35**
**Contract Term: 8 month***
**Contracting Authority: DWP**
**Location: Hybrid - 2 days in the office, 3 remote. (Offices: Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle or London)**
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. As such, we operate on a scale that is almost unmatched anywhere in Europe and most people in Britain come into contact with us at some point in their lives.
Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:
- Run an effective welfare system that enables people to achieve financial independence by providing assistance and guidance into employment
- Increase saving for, and security in later life
- Create a fair and affordable welfare system which improves the life chances of children
- Deliver outstanding services to our customers and claimants
- Deliver efficiently: transform the way we deliver our services to reduce costs and increase productivity
**As a **Commercial lead **your main responsibilities would be to**:
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of discrete work packages - both procurement and contract management.
- Act as a source of expert market knowledge, insight and advice to policy and operational teams in category area. Work with them to understand requirements and develop and deliver commercial solutions aligned to policy objectives, suppliers, and supply markets.
- Contribute to project scrutiny and approval boards as required.
- Represent the Commercial team at senior management meetings.
- Develop and deliver procurement savings plans for specific categories in collaboration with customers.
- Be accountable for the selection and implementation of appropriate commercial models to achieve Departmental strategy and goals and encourage supportive supplier behaviour.
- Effectively influence customers across the network to deliver value for money, achieving savings targets and sustainable outcomes in the procurement of works, goods and services.
- Provide expert advice on commercial risk management and deliver mitigation plans / strategies to manage identified risks at corporate level.
**You’ll have relevant experience in the following**:
(Please note, this must be clearly demonstrated on your C.V)
- Experience at using Bravo/Jaggaer or equivalent EPS.
- Previous experience of working in a hands on commercial lead role.
- Evidence of the design and delivery of end-to-end strategic commercial strategies.
- Understanding of public services procurement and associated supplier markets.
- Experience of analysing complex information to make informed commercial decisions.
- Evidence of influencing key senior stakeholders towards commercial solutions which balance optimal commercial performance with delivering business strategy.
**The following are desirable but NOT essential**:
- Experience in the delivery of change programmes and change control / contract management within major contracts.
- Qualifications
- CIPS/IACCM desirable but not essential
