Are you an EMC / Compliance / Electronics Design Engineer, looking to join the R&D Team of a company that manufactures life saving fire systems, that are used all over the world? Our client requires a permanent Electronics Engineer with strong EMC / Complianceexperience, to work from their R&D facility in Rochester. Hybrid working is available for this role, that also offers excellent prospects and working conditions in a friendly, professional team.
You will work with electronics, software, mechanical and test engineers, designing and developing the very best fire safety components and systems (fire panels, devices, detectors etc) which are manufactured at other sites.
Primary Function - manage the internal product reliability testing (parametric, EMC and environmental) to ensure that products are tested to internal and regulatory requirements.
Secondary Function - design, develop, and provide sustaining activities on electronic hardware products.
EMC / Compliance / Electronics Design Engineer - the role:
- In house EMC pre-compliance and use of off site EMC testing equipment
- Management of and hands-on Reliability testing
- Generation and documentation of testing methods and processes to ensure that the product meets our strict reliability requirements.
- Product architecture design, cost generation and complete electronics design
- Analog and digital design at system, product, and circuit level
- Working closely with the other 3rd party test houses, engineers, production, and production engineering where necessary.
- Produce prototypes of designs where appropriate.
- Maintain and update existing product designs and design documentation as required.
- Sustaining engineering, deciding when samples are required for testing versus just comparing parameters on datasheet OR when a PCB change is required versus a just a component drop-in/replacement.
- Component-level troubleshooting, problem solving and root cause analysis
- Act as the intermediary between R&D and Production to resolve any issues relating to component, supplier changes and new product introduction
EMC / Compliance / Electronic Design Engineer requirements:
- Practical experience in electronic and electronic component/technologies
- 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) of grades A-C (including Math’s and English)
- Degree level in related discipline
- Substantial proven hands-on experience in an electronics hardware design & development
- Hands on experience in EMC testing and fault finding for pre-compliance
- Experience in the design of products for CE and global certification (EN61000, EN54, EN12094, UL, FM, NFPA)
- Experience in hands on testing of electronic products from full parametric testing through to EMC pre compliance and Environmental testing.
- Able to review and write clear product design, functional test, and process documents
- Excellent knowledge of electronics as well as EMC fault finding
- Proven End to end experience of the New Product Development cycle (NPD)
- Excellent communicator and able to work closely with others to resolve technical and EMC issues
- Electronic hardware architecture design, schematic capture, PCB layout (high speed, EMC and Signal Integrity best practices), BOM preparation, EMC compliance.
- Popular microcontrollers/Embedded systems: Microchip, STM32, 8/16/32 bit, ARM Core
- Popular technologies SPI, I2C, Ethernet, I2S, USB, UART communications.
- Design of mixed signal low power, low voltage, low noise circuitry
- Design of embedded digital control circuitry and real-time microcontroller solutions
