Northampton, United Kingdom Northamptonshire Children's Trust Full time

About the role
Northamptonshire Youth Justice Service (NYJS) is a successful partnership organisation working to prevent offending by children and young people, whilst helping to resolve offences for victims and protecting the public within your community.

Working across the county and in partnership with the Police and Courts we aim to assess and address the issues facing our young people and wherever possible avoid them becoming involved in further offending.

What will you be doing?
You will complete assessments, deliver interventions, signpost to other services, and broker arrangements and ensure that, wherever possible, restorative justice processes have been used for the benefit of all parties, and the young person has access to the services required to meet their needs in the future.

This post sits within the Court Team which involves close liaison with, and attendance at both the Youth and Crown Courts, areas where the NYOS is visible to the public. The role is a county wide service so the successful applicant will need to be able to travel effectively and be able to work from our offices in either Northampton or Kettering.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly effective service. We are looking for creative, persistent, and extremely motivated people to work across the county with young people, their families, victims, and volunteers to address the issues that have brought the young people to the attention of the criminal justice system and repair the harm caused through their behaviour.

About you
Educated to at least A level standard, you will have some experience of working with children and young people, the ability to engage positively with them, their parents/carers, the victims of their offences and colleagues in other agencies. You will be highly organised and self motived, whilst knowledge of youth justice legislation isn’t essential an understanding of how legislation impacts on sentencing and a desire to learn and understand legislation is of benefit.

If you can meet these challenges, we’d love to meet you.
