Private Sector Liaison Officer

There is a high demand for social housing in Cherwell, but there is not enough social housing to meet this demand. In this role you will seek out new opportunities in the private rented sector, both inside and outside of Cherwell, to help secure more housing for those in need. You will promote and help develop our incentives to private sector landlords as well as help monitor and sustain tenancies that have been created.

You will need to show initiative and work independently as the lead officer for lettings through the private sector, but you will work closely with the teams within Housing, such as Housing Options, Housing Standards and Housing Allocations, to ensure the best outcomes for customers and landlords. You will have the ability to influence the development of the service area and help devise new initiatives and identify new opportunities withing the market. We are able to offer hybrid working, with a split between office and homeworking.

The Person

We are seeking a person who has experience of working in a housing or letting agency environment and has experience in delivering services directly to customers. We are looking for someone who is able to negotiate effectively to get the best outcomes for the Council, landlord and customer, who will have different priorities. Having the ability to communicate with a variety of different audiences, including new and existing landlords as well as vulnerable people, will be essential.
