Job Opportunity: Mobility Trainers

Role Overview

As a Mobility Trainer, you will conduct professional assessments of campus locations and deliver time-limited training programs. This training is especially crucial for blind or visually impaired students, who will need personalized programs based on their needs assessment reports. Additionally, support may be provided to students with other disabilities affecting their orientation.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with diverse needs, particularly those who are blind or visually impaired.
- Conduct professional assessments of campus locations.
- Develop and implement individualized training programs based on assessed needs.
- Teach students safe routes around the campus, using either a long cane or a guide dog.
- Support students in navigating their University campus independently.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in providing student support in Higher Education or similar settings.
- Strong understanding of University-level study.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- General disability awareness.
- Flexible approach to working, tailored to individual needs.

Essential Qualifications

**List A**:

- BSc / BSc (Hons) Degree in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment)
- PG Dip in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People)
- Certification in Habilitation Studies
- Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment)
- Diploma in Higher Education in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment)
- BTEC Professional Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment)
- Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment)
- Habilitation Work - Working with Children and Young People - Top Up Degree - BSc (Hons)
- Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight Graduate Diploma Course at ULC Institute of Education (IOE)
- Graduate Diploma in Low Vision Rehabilitation
- Combined Mobility Officer and Technical Officer Certificate
- Original Certificate in Rehabilitation Work (with proof of relevant work applicable to HE students)

**List B**:

- Full or Associate Membership of the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network (RWPN) with experience in mobility and orientation training for adults.
- Membership of Habilitation VI UK with proof of relevant work applicable to adults.
