**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate Head (AHoD) of Social Work and Wellbeing to join the Department of Social Work and Wellbeing to inspire best practice and the delivery of high-quality student experience. As AHoD you will be a key leader and expert adviser within the department, supporting and working closely with colleagues and the leadership team, to help shape and implement departmental strategy, contributing collaboratively to the strategic and operational management of the Department as a whole; consult and represent the views of staff; communicate Departmental strategy and policy to relevant staff and ensure informed compliance.

As AHoD you will lead across both our Social Work and Wellbeing provision, holding specific line management responsibility for departmental staff (to be determined by the HoD). As AHoD you will also make and/or support high-level contributions to research and/or knowledge exchange activities and maintain an appropriate teaching responsibility in their area.

As AHoD, you will ensure the highest standards of quality across our programmes and will support and lead on NSS, student retention and employability strategies within the Department. You will also support and lead on and oversee the strategic and operational management of all aspects of taught provision and take a leading role in the development of curriculum across the Department.

As Associate Head in Social Work and Wellbeing, you will:

- be proactive and dynamic in teaching, learning and assessment.
- have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- be of credible professional standing and influence within the academic community for up-to-date knowledge of key issues and debates in Learning, Teaching and Assessment
- be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills (such as influencing, communication and engaging others) applied to team and project leadership roles.

It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure for you from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
