At Bross Bagels you will join a modern family formed of Scottish born Montreal bagel shops. Job Summary:
A Bross Baker assists in the preparation of all the Montreal Bagels that are served in all our Stores around Edinburgh. It also involves prepping and baking other baked items that can be ordered with these and the often changing and exciting items that we add to our menu. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients and **roll and prep the bagels ready to be cooked. This also includes supporting the packing up of Bakery items to be picked up by our drivers ready for distribution around the city.**

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Fulfill all bakery jobs to the specification and standard of the Bross recipes.
- Weighing and measuring ingredients for the preparation of baked goods.
- Kneading dough by hand or using industrial dough mixers.
- Forming bagels to the desired shape.
- Baking items in the oven.
- Monitoring oven temperature, humidity and baking times.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bakery by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out rubbish, receiving and putting away deliveries etc, and following a ‘clean as you go’ attitude.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored in accordance with FIFO principles.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform other bakery duties as assigned.
- Keep the bakery clean and organised.
- Record food wastage and cooking temperatures as per Food Safety guidelines.

A bit about you...

Experience desired:

- Proven experience as a Baker or within a kitchen prep environment.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety rules in a kitchen.
- Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
- A basic understanding of operating an oven.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
- Very good physical condition and endurance.
- Basic understanding of Google spreadsheets is advantageous.

**Required Skills**:

- The ability to work flexible hours that include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and possible holidays.
- The ability to follow recipes and take instructions.
- To be punctual to shifts and abide by the dress code standards.
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- The ability to multitask, and manage time effectively
- Friendly, helpful, confident and engaging personality.
