Chief Corporate Affairs Office

Inmarsat’s Chief Corporate Affairs Office (CAO) oversees several key areas - Company Secretarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Governance and Compliance, alongside marketing communications and managing the activities in India, China, Russian/the Stans and Turkey.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinating with and building an internal network with Legal and other Business Units on matters of compliance, especially with regards to areas listed in greater detail below;
The implementation, enhancement and management of the global Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption (ABC) Compliance programme, including the Anti-Facilitation of Tax Evasion (AFTE) to ensure ‘adequate procedures’ exist;
Maintaining and embedding Compliance policies and processes including but not limited to: ABC, AFTE, Corporate Sponsorship and Whistleblowing.
Provide advice and guidance in relation to economic and financial sanctions, including conducting ongoing sanctions screening on third parties for regulatory compliance
Providing staff with advice, training, communications and awareness campaigns with regards to GDPR, including authorising and maintaining a log of Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA) and chairing the GDPR Steering Group
Pre-clearing gifts and entertainment valued at £100 or over and those to government employees and the provision of advice on gifts and entertainments matters more broadly;
Providing advice and counsel on anti-bribery/anti-corruption issues globally. In addition, and where necessary, provide advice on wider financial crime / compliance matters;
Creating and reporting on compliance metrics to the Senior Director Global Compliance
Undertaking transactional and deep dive due diligence and research into ABC, Sanctions & GDPR related matters and risks;
Assisting in undertaking risk assessments and the provision of training;
Executing and monitoring routines focused on ABC, Sanctions & GDPR compliance risks;
Preparation of course material and delivery and training programmes and subsequent training records through delivery of strong ABC & GDPR knowledge;
Creating awareness of and competence in compliance issues across the organisation;
Maintain a working knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting the UK business and provide guidance on any changes in US and European anti-corruption (UK Bribery Act) requirements. Reviewing UK requirements against those in other key Inmarsat operating territories;
Conduct annual self-assessments to identify gaps and areas of risk across all areas of involvement. Coordinate auditing of compliance records;
Conduct regular testing of procedures to ensure compliance across all areas of involvement;
Support the Senior Global Compliance Director on specific projects and long term business strategy as appropriate;
Work well as part of a small team which encompasses multiple functions within it;
Assisting with providing input, support and coordinating projects, including, but not limited to, Audits and Regulatory Exam requests, self-reported/identified issues, risk assessments and other ABC Compliance program deliverables;
Complete third party supplier / customer questionnaires in relation to the companies ABC program and Sanctioned country exposure.
Maintain and communicate the companies ‘Speak Up’ program and where necessary undertake investigations into any suspected breaches of polices, processes or our Code of Ethics

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Significant experience or knowledge of anti-corruption (UK Bribery Act) and U.S. FCPA regulations, Sanctions and compliance best practices;
Prior experience in conducting 3rd party due diligence and risk assessments;
Working experience and knowledge of the GDPR regulations and implementation best practices;
Ability to work in environment with complex processes, systems, and organisational structures;
Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and employees;
Experience in the development, implementation, and management of a compliance programme, including training, policies, guidelines and procedures;
Training and Auditing, experience and education - proactive in approach to problem resolution;
Proactive, well organised and motivated to deliver high-level performance with a high degree of attention to detail;
Legal or internal audit or company secretarial background with exposure to the compliance areas will be helpful;
Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
Ability to be a team player, recognise red flag issues, and willingness to coordinate across divisions;
Self-starter;
A team player with high energy, a “can do attitude” and the ability to challenge others (when necessary); and
Willingness to undertake Security Vetting to SC

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Experience with other areas of Compliance such as Export Control
Experience with Salesforce and / or SAP
Experience with due diligence software such as Assist4 and Dow Jones Risk Centre/KYBP
Security Clearance Vetting to SC
