**Salary**: £20,600 - £23,175 per annum
Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate **Education Worker** to join our team based in Hatfield. As a hyh education worker you will support young people to make informed life choices and advise them of where to get help and support in a crisis,ultimately helping them avoid youth homelessness. You will support peer educators to 'tell their homelessness stories’ in sessions and develop exciting and creative teaching resources. Through the marketing of our sessions to schools and other providers youwill ensure that funder targets are met.
**Key Responsibilities**:

- To facilitate education sessions, via lessons, assemblies and workshops to small and large groups of young people, on the issues surrounding homelessness, leaving home, independent living, conflict resolution, healthy relationships and anger management.
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with education providers and education professionals across the county of Hertfordshire. To maintain regular contact to market the service and engage them with hyh Education.
- To support the development of the education sessions, resources and monitoring tools to ensure the sessions are effective, engaging and impactful.
- To support and encourage service users (ex-homeless young people) to be Peer Educators.
- To promote and facilitate Service Users participation across services.
- Travel as required, for the successful delivery of your duties.
- To undertake any other reasonable duty as my reasonability be determined.
- Support and work alongside volunteers / students.
- Travel as required, usually within Hertfordshire for the successful delivery of your duties.
- An understanding of the current issues faced by young people
- A full driving licence and use of own car or motorbike for business purposes
- Experience of youth work or facilitating groups
- Excellent understanding of confidentially with strict professional boundaries and personal integrity
- Commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to engage young people of different ages and learning abilities
- General administrative skills (filling, record keeping)
- Ability to be creative, flexible, and dynamic
- An understanding of the voluntary sector and the constraints placed upon voluntary sector organisation (desirable)
