**Job Title** Head of Projects

**Reporting to** Smart Controls General Manager

**Location** Smart Control Systems, Stockport

**The Company**

Smart Control Systems specify, design, install, commission and service bespoke building energy management systems (BEMS) to provide sophisticated operational control, providing energy optimised solutions and creating fit for purpose environmental conditions.

**Scope and remit**

Responsible for all technical aspects of the projects team, including supporting all personnel and external stakeholders. Ensure projects are designed, installed and commissioned to time, to spec, to cost and safely.

Managing product and process development activities in line with company and customer requirements and in compliance with associated industry / customer specific standards.

Leading on all innovative product and control improvements for the business, overseeing day to day project activities whilst working in collaboration with other departments and ensuring services are delivered to customers in line with cost, quality and time targets.

**Personal duties**

**Operational duties**
- Projects - responsible for all technical aspects of the projects department. This could be through:

- Technical support of the team
- Analytics of project performance, including outturn of GP
- R&D opportunities
- Product or systems development
- Design and enhancement
- Training of team members
- Hands-on troubleshooting, including on site support
- Writing technical instructions
- Understanding of innovative technical enhancements through understating of the market changes.
- Gathering of R&D annual supportive material.
- Lead for all BMS matters, development of relationship with Trend
- Ensuring roll out of all required legislative changes
- Trend contract management
- Identifying and implementing improved ways of working
- Team meetings
- Product development - enhance, improve and develop the current product range across the business with the target of ensuring group are market leaders in their field. Understanding of all potential market offerings, analysis and detailed findings produced. Ensuring detailed market research is conducted, competitor analysis, technical capabilities and a full commercial understanding is presented
- Internal training program - develop and maintain an in-house technical training program for all employees, both new and incumbent to learn and understand any specific products or control systems. Lead role in understand all technical training needs across the business units.
- Case studies - develop and maintain technical case studies promoting all products and services and ensure that they are communicated and marketed effectively.
- Responsible for ensuring delivery of audits across operations.
- Lead any internal procedural changes required derived from recommendations / best practice or Group improvement schemes
- Ensure business are market leaders with maintenance practices, product offerings and innovative technology and systems.
- Evaluating and resolving technical related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Act as the internal link between specification and design team and projects department.
- Provision of team key performance data reporting metrics.
- Implement new business processes in line with business objectives.
- Develop, coach and support team.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure department consistency.

**Leadership**
- Contributing to the development of new policies and practices
- Support with recruitment, effective onboarding and training of new employees.
- Planning, organising and delivering internal and external training to meet role expectations and in line with company strategy.
- Evaluate and improve technical sales performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and development and feeding outcomes to senior management team.
- Take reasonable care for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all employees in accordance with legislation and the company’s health and safety policies.
- Ensure compliance to all systems, guidelines & policies.

**Salary**: From £55,000.00 per year
