OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Quality Technologist role is to initiate quality improvements within T&L Sugars using experience gained in the food and /or sugar industry to define best practice and therefore anticipate our customers’ requirements. Key aspects of this role are supporting the Technical Manager, building relationships with the factory teams and embedding Quality within the business. The Quality Technologist will be expected to work closely with personnel from a wide range of functions within ASR corporate, T&L Sugars and our customers.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To lead improvements in the Quality Management System
To manage regular pest control visits and drive completion of actions
To own and manage the GMP audit system
To support the HACCP team in maintaining an up-to-date HACCP plan
To liaise with the factory to support investigations into nonconforming products
To complete traceability exercises
To plan and complete site service supplier audits
To lead and maintain standards in Religious, Animal Feed and ISO audits for the site
To provide training in aspects of quality as required
To answer customer enquiries relating to the Thames site including shelf life extension and CoA issues
To manage consumer complaints received at site, working closely with the Customer Care Line
To liaise with the factory to support investigation and closure of SAP complaints
To produce regular food safety topics
Work with other functions to embed Quality principles throughout the site

WORK EXPERIENCES
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience of customer interface, either as a supplier to industry or retailers
Exposure to sugar and/or food industry best practice

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
Ability to communicate best practice knowledge to a wide audience
Knowledge of cane sugar processing an advantage
Knowledge of laboratory practices and methods an advantage
Knowledge of relevant quality systems
Excellent knowledge of quality systems, and their implementation
Commitment to achieving the highest possible quality standards
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence people who may have conflicting priorities.
Proactive and motivated by change
Strong organization, planning and decision-making abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
