**Our client is one of the world’s largest Manufacture / Distributers of solutions and products for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Customs Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the business’ trade operations meet the relevant guidelinesand legislation, adhering to import and export regulations in each of the Countries in which it operates; utilises knowledge of CPC codes, commodity / HS codes and customs tariffs to maintain compliance whilst ensuring shipments are cleared effectively.**
**Customs Compliance Manager**
- **Health and Safety**:
- Proactively promote and develop a safe working culture and environment by collaborating in an open and engaging manner
- Breeding a culture where H&S is recognised as everyone’s responsibility, and is a core function of our business
- **Operational Management**:
- Manage transactions, information requests and communications with HMRC, US Customs and Border Protection and other border control organisations when dealing with import/export transactions
- Liaise with exporters and brokers to ensure customs compliance, including the performing of audits on import records
- Develop and deliver AEO status and maintain registration, maximising the benefits across the organisation
- Understand the role of CFSP, CW and IPR and determine if applicable to our business, deploying where necessary
- Responsible for assignment of commodity codes for the enterprise and liaising with 3rd parties (e.g. Bird & Bird, Baker Hostetler, etc) for advice when necessary
- Maintaining commodity codes and harmonizing to ensure alignment between all PH business operating systems and 3rd party freight forwarders
- Generate plans to continuously improve import and export transaction processes and efficiency
- Assist in the development of key freight partner relationships and help achieve key SLA KPI’s
- Identify trends in non-conformance and other factors that are detrimental to import / export transactions
- Ensure that the most appropriate incoterms are applied and utilised for each lane and/or commercial agreement
- Guide the business and support customers through changes to the Northern Ireland Protocol
- Monitor and manage the TSS portal for shipments from GB to NI, achieving the required cut offs and highlighting any requirement for duty payments
- Identify opportunities to partner with associations to reduce cost and improve customer service
- **Financial Control**:
- Liaise closely with the PH Finance team about duties and tariffs, identifying any potential risk or opportunity and notifying of changes to rates/commodity codes
- Support best practice in relation to VAT on import movements
- Identifying opportunities for Duty drawback across the business
- **Customer Service**:
- Support the IDB Export Analyst in ensuring that IDB shipments conform to export regulations
- Liaise with the Operations and Purchasing teams, Sales and CX teams, and Product Managers to deal efficiently with any customer issues / requests and generate rectification and action plans to maintain excellent service levels.
- Analysis of data through interpretation, extrapolation & investigation to continuously improve customer service
- Review and approve shipping documentation across the business
- **People Management / Communication**:
- Develop relationships with customs authorities and become the primary contact
- Maintain industry knowledge and collaborate across the organisation to maximise efficiency and minimise cost
- Advise internal departments, suppliers and customers of new and revised customs procedures affecting their processes and documentation
- Provide guidance and direction to team members to support their development plans whilst building a succession plan
- Maintain effective employee relations to support the business’ values
- Facilitate a collaborative problem-solving approach with all other departments
**Customs Compliance Manager**
**Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications**:
- At least 5 years working within an international distribution business with high volumes of import and export transactions
- Working knowledge of customs systems (e.g. Automated Entry processing (AEP) / CHIEF)
- Experience of working within a logistics organisation including knowledge of operational import and export regulations and controls, tariff classification, valuation, duty preferences and free trade agreements including the USMCA
- FDA import/export knowledge
- Institute of Export & International Trade - Level 4 Diploma in International Trade or similar; OR Institute of Export & International Trade - Level 4 Diploma in Customs Practitioner Award or similar
