South Tyneside Council are looking for a business administration apprentice to work as part of the Pensions Service Team providing support/administration of Local Government Pension Scheme member records and payments of benefits. This will include undertaking a selection of specialist duties which are highlighted below.

1. To provide support to front line service delivery. You will:

- Open and sort all incoming mail including receipting of cheques and certificates.
- Scan incoming post and index to member’s record.
- Deal with all outgoing post.
- Request purchase orders and control payment of invoices.
- Control and re-order supplies of office stationery.
- Organise travel arrangements.
- Assist with organising meetings and delivering events either in person or virtually.
- Assist with preparing statistical and graphical information in respect of performance against the fund’s key indicators.

2. To support the Fund’s electronic communications and online services. You will:

- Assist in updating documentation within the Fund’s pensions administration system.
- Assist in updating the Fund’s public and secure websites.
- Assist with monitoring the Fund’s member secure messaging service.
- Assist with surveys and collation of results.

3. To assist with uploading, recording and updating data. You will:

- Assist in the data input and verification of member data.
- Undertake processing within the Pensions administration system to update members personal information.

4. To provide administrative assistance for bulk communications and large projects. You will:

- Draft and release Annual Benefits Statements, Pension updates and bulk statutory communications.
- Test and implement new modules for the pensions administration system.

5. You will be an effective team member. You will:

- Use the computer network PCs and associated programmes.
- Use your initiative and be flexible in your approach to work.
- Deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional and secure manner, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Prioritise and manage your workload.
- Build effective communications with colleagues and external bodies.

- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
