Income Officer

Kenneth Brian Associates are working with our client, a housing association, to recruit an Income Officer on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 6 months.
The focus of the role will be to maximise income and prevent arrears, ensuring that rent and other charges are paid promptly, and building and maintaining effective relationships with residents and third parties.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and managing rent and service charge accounts
- Respond to contact from residents
- Tackling arrears by notifying residents as soon as possible
- Offer advice and support
- Making affordable repayment agreements taking income and expenditure into account
- Taking legal action when necessary, including attending court
- Liaising with benefits agencies
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Experience of debt recovery
- Understanding of relevant housing law
- Experience of negotiating solutions to achieve the objectives of the customer and organisation
- Experience of handling difficult customers and situations in a compassionate and sensitive manner
- Good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible and prepared to work outside normal office hours on occasion
