**About the role**
The Head of Distribution is accountable for the design and implementation of our channel distribution strategy. The role will drive online selling and will be responsible for website functionality and development.
- Identify and developing new distribution channels and optimizing existing ones.
- Work cross-functionally across Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Pricing and Global Operations to prioritise online developments.
- Report and analyse all sales channels on cost of sale and yield per unit of freight.
- Set targets for online penetration including sub-channel splits and driving channel shift.
- Create short and long-term channel sales strategies, ensuring these are clearly defined for key customer segments and establish optimal paths to market.
- Work with front-end and backend developers to build the best web presentation with a primary focus on usability
- Develop alternative transactional platforms, such as host to host engagement with large customers, and linkage to established platforms.
- Develop business cases for distribution investment
- Develop of bespoke solutions to enable large customers to book direct through their own systems
- Manage and reduce cost of sale

- Skills
- Broad understanding and interest in IT including web development and architecture
- Collaborative with good planning skills to ensure backend system development is delivered ahead of web development.
- Ability to exercise independent professional judgment within an overall business context
- Excellent negotiation, persuasion, influencing and communication skills; able to simplify complex technical or business issues.
- Excellent leadership capability, with the ability to build, and contribute to high performing teams
- Looks externally, and applies new technology appropriately.
- Experience of managing project teams, especially agile methodology.
- Good stakeholder management.
- Willing to challenge and influence the business and stakeholders to get a positive outcome.
- Flexible, proactive, able to cope with complexity and resilient
- Capable of engendering genuine culture change with a passion for creating effective new ways of working

**Qualifications**:

- Professional qualification in IT or digital discipline advantageous but not essential

Experience
- Experience of working in agile web development environment with a good understanding of how to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Proven track record of working in complex organisations, with multiple stakeholders and suppliers.
- Understanding of industry distribution systems & practice
- Financial management of large projects
- Team leadership of an international department
