The role being advertised is for a full-time Programme Facilitator. We are seeking a qualified Probation Officer to deliver accredited groupwork programmes to men who have been convicted of sexual offences, including the completion of all the associated pre/post group assessments. Any applicants who are not already qualified Facilitators will need to pass an assessment centre and the relevant Facilitator training within the initial 6 months probationary period.
The programmes currently being delivered in Surrey are Horizon, iHorizon and New Me Strengths. These programmes have been devised from a desistance perspective and focus on developing protective factors to keep group members safe from offending. They aim to support group members to develop effective problem solving and coping skills, to build supportive relationships and pro-social peer groups, to manage unhealthy sexual thinking and to develop a positive self-identity.
Most programmes are delivered in the evening and you should be prepared to work up to four evenings a week and be flexible in working across PDU sites. You will be well supported by co-workers and via treatment management supervision. You will also have access to external professional support for staff working with sexual offending, be a member with NOTA and have access to related training events. There is reimbursement for business travel and an enhanced payment available for working unsocial hours in the evening.
In addition to the base salary you will be entitled to unsocial hours payments for working in the evenings and/or a Saturday. Working on a Saturday attracts an additional premium of 50% and working evenings an additional 30%.
**In this role you will be required to travel to sites in Surrey, such as Guildford, to deliver Programmes. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.**
**Overview of the job**
Post holders will undertake the full range of offender management tasks with offenders under supervision including assessment, sentence implementation and producing reports; utilising service procedures and practice directions to underpin professional judgement.
**Summary**
To assess and manage the risk posed by offenders to protect victims of crime and the general the public by:
- Providing information and advice to criminal courts, other criminal justice agencies and partner organisations
- Contribute to the management of risk
- Work with other agencies and groups to prevent crime and meet the needs of victims and offenders

**Responsibilities, Activities & Duties**
Probation Officers may be required to undertake any combination, or all, of the duties and responsibilities set out below.
- To provide professional advice and assessment, including written reports to courts, the Parole Board, other criminal justice agencies and partner organisations
- To undertake the full range of offender management tasks with offenders assessed at all levels of risk of serious harm including high and very high.
- To use computer based systems to produce, update and maintain records and other documentation within agreed timescales
- To ensure timely and effective referrals to, and relationships between, offender management, court teams, victim contact units, interventions, Approved Premises, prisons and external agencies to enhance positive outcomes, manage risk and reduce reoffending
- To attend professional meetings and represent the NPS at appropriate partnership forums e.g. MAPPA, MARAC
- To work collaboratively with colleagues, maintain effective team relationships and provide professional guidance and support to Probation Services Officer (PSOs) and other staff as appropriate
- To provide cover within your team and to other teams as required
- To undertake prison, home or other alternate location visits as required
