The safeguarding & health advisor lead role is key to effective and safe service delivery across Surrey Sexual Health & HIV services. The role provides specialist professional support and advice to all staff within the service in relation to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults. A key aspect of the role will be to maintain and deliver the safeguarding strategy to support teams to deliver core services.

We are looking for a nurse with knowledge and experience in Safeguarding & sexual health to join the Surrey Sexual Health & HIV services to the post of safeguarding lead.

**The main duties of the role are**:

- Lead the management and delivery of Safeguarding support and services across the Surrey Integrated Sexual health and HIV services
- Deliver Health Adviser support within Surrey Prisons
- Manage relevant projects and develop new initiatives within the service
- To lead on safeguarding for young people and adults at risk in the integrated sexual health and HIV services in Surrey
- To provide professional support around safeguarding to core delivery teams
- To work with key partners in the development and implementation of safeguarding pathways across Surrey to meet the needs of the local community

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of the Safeguarding agenda and will have key skills and experience in the management of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults enabling supervision and support to other staff.

You will have the ability to effectively communicate with the Multidisciplinary team and also with external agencies. You will be a credible resource for staff, providing informed advice, training and support in relation to Safeguarding concerns and will be keen to progress the Safeguarding agenda within a busy sexual health service.

**Main responsibilities of the role**:

- To work strategically with the Service Manager, Deputy Service Manager, Consultants and Lead Nurses to develop competencies within teams around safeguarding and supporting complex patients and patients with a positive diagnosis
- To deliver health adviser support services in Surrey Prisons, to include: safeguarding, partner notification, supporting HIV positive patients and providing advice to staff for complex cases
- To maintain the quality standards of safeguarding and health advice throughout the service
- Work in partnership across the wider CNWL sexual health services, to initiate coordinate, implement and evaluate safeguarding and health advice related policies, and protocols through a research and audit programme
- To represent Surrey sexual health Safeguarding, at multidisciplinary team meetings and other relevant meetings
- To attend relevant Safeguarding external meetings representing Surrey sexual health services
- To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team on professional and operational matters and chair multidisciplinary meetings as required
- To participate in recruitment of staff as appropriate and provide an induction, orientation and training programme for new staff within the post-holder’s area of expertise
- To provide regular safeguarding training and supervision within the service to ensure staff remain competent and compliant in safeguarding matters
- Ensure that sensitive and complex issues are dealt with in a professional manner by clinic staff at all times
