**Job description**:
- Ensure delivery of timely and accurate Armed Forces Pension discretionary casework, in line with the rules and regulations, in an efficient manner in accordance with Legislation and Policy directives. To investigate and assure pension casework including the preparation of appeals through the official Internal Disputes Resolution Procedure and Discretionary Awards Review process in an accurate and timely manner.
- Identify processes carried out by the business partner that require assurance checks.
- Carry out the process of assurance checks on a range of pre-determined processes. To include:
a. Preparation: understanding the scheme rules that underpin the process; familiarisation with Pension and Compensation Policy Instructions (PCPI), MOD Authority Instructions (MAI), Desk Instructions (DI) and any other relevant guidance; gathering of pension files for audit;
- b. Audit: review of files to ensure that scheme rules and guidance have been followed throughout the process by both business partner and MOD Authority staff; providing assurance that any awards made or forecasts issued are accurate;
- c. Sign-off: preparing a report on completion of the audit to document findings and agree any further actions required.- Liaise with the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA), ensuring understanding of every area to be audited.
- Work collaboratively with Contract Performance Monitoring Team (CPMT) and Process Control Management Team (PCMT) to ensure GIAA audits and CPMT and PCMT work programmes are completed efficiently and all issues identified are investigated and action taken to resolve where necessary.
- Assist with the ongoing programmes of providing formal written instructions and guidance for the business partner and the MOD Authority where necessary to ensure compliance with the pension scheme rules.

- To be comfortable producing written work and data for Senior Managers.
- To be able to work within a team to strict deadlines, prioritising where necessary.
- To be logical and practical, using the appropriate level of process for the work required
- To be able to proactively focus on continuous improvement to ensure you are always looking for ways to enhance the business
