**The Role**

**The Job**:

- The Heights Burnley seek to appoint an Outdoor Education level 2 Teaching Assistant to join the school from December 2025 or earlier on a permanent contract working term time only (39 weeks per year). The actual salary for this position is £22,548 to £24,461 per annum.

**What does this job do?**
- To provide support to students experiencing difficulties on a day-to-day basis while accessing the outdoor learning programme.
- To support the outdoor education lead in school to support the outdoor education programme including trips and excursions, DoE expeditions and activity sessions.
- To support the outdoor education lead and wider team with the Duke of Edinburgh programme including the administration and qualification.
- To be trained and compliant with EVOLVE and guidelines of the Local Authority.
- To maintain the outdoor education stores and equipment to ensure that all equipment is adequately logged, monitored and maintained so that it is available for issue, use and return as required.
- To work as part of the team that responds to challenging behaviour
- To liaise with staff, parents and relevant outside agencies to provide appropriate
- To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff (or HLTA leading the class in the short-term absence of the class teacher), to implement planning and assessment, working with individual or small groups of pupils to achieve high levels of accelerated pupil progress.
- To support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by developing their communication skills, supporting them to manage their behaviour, developing independence and social skills and to take responsibility for monitoring/reporting on the impact of class-based interventions.

**What are the job requirements?**
- Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
- How to support phonics and reading development including use of cued articulation.
- Experience of support work with children in an educational setting.
- Ability to relate well to children
- Be positive and respond to situations in a calm, professional manner at all times.
