Continuous Improvement Manager

We are currently looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our busy team in Royston
**Salary**: 45k-50k - depending on experience
**Continuous Improvement Manager Duties**:
- To deliver continuous improvement (CI) through the development and deployment of a CI strategy that delivers tangible business benefits in terms of operational and financial improvements.
- Identifying areas for process improvements and developing a strategy to achieve tangible results by maximising efficiencies and quality, improved customer satisfaction and on time delivery and minimise operating costs and waste.
- To actively participate in the sharing of information and best practice across Senior Group sites.
- Lead the annual Hoshin process and ensure that objectives are cascaded down into relevant CI projects and activities.
- Lead the weekly Lean council review ensuring that activities are aligned to the overall Hoshin objectives and that resources invested in CI activities are delivering agreed financial /non financial returns.
- Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement in all areas of the business
- Working with the leadership team, identify areas of improvement and compile the business case for change
- Develop, implement and manage a Lean Awareness induction programme for all new starters to the business
- Attend Gemba walks to provide coaching and development and ensure there is a strong link between hoshin objectives and Gemba metrics and that Gemba walks add real value to the business.
- Conduct process reviews to identify and implement lean manufacturing plans to improve throughput, efficiency and product quality
- To investigate production and quality problems, identifying root cause and improvement opportunities and identify opportunities to eliminate bottlenecks
- Review and advise on training methodology and programmes
- Advise on scale up processes for new and existing product lines
- Process map all key areas of the business in order to eliminate duplication, identify opportunities to improve utilising alternative methodology or technology and implement a consistent approach in order to develop the SATE standard.
- Agree Performance Indicators and report monthly progress
- Develop an effective Lean auditing system
- A sound understanding of ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 and the implementation process.
**Continuous Improvement Manager Requirements**:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. mechanical / production / quality / CI engineering
- Proven track record in the development and implementation of a CI programme utilising lean manufacturing tools, techniques and systems
- Experience gained in a manufacturing/production environment in a CI role
- 6 Sigma (or equivalent)
- Project Management skills
- PC literate - MS Office Suite
- UK driving licence
**Desirable**:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the confidence and ability to present to groups from all disciplines and levels.
- Strong leadership skills/influencing skills
- Take the initiative and where appropriate to work with the minimum of supervision.
- To always work within the realms of “Reasonableness”.
- Flexibility: willing to carry out a range of duties, work outside standard business hours in order to support the Afternoon/Evening shift, occasional travel within UK
- Be familiar with Senior Aerospace Thermal Engineering Values and be able to demonstrate previous experience of working to those Values.
