New Job Opportunity: Press Assistant at Deacon Communications
Deacon Communications is looking for a dynamic Press Assistant to join our team, with a special focus on event and tour PR. The role offers a salary of £25k per annum.
Located in the vibrant Bussey Building in Peckham, London, Deacon Communications is a full-service PR agency that covers print, online, and broadcast media across music, entertainment, and the arts. Our roster is diverse, and our live projects, which are the largest part of our business, span venues from intimate 300-capacity rooms to large 20,000-capacity arenas.
We work with some of the country’s best promoters and pride ourselves on being a trailblazer in live music PR. Our recent and ongoing live projects include:
- Regular artist tours (10cc, Gladys Knight, Gregory Porter, Barry Manilow, UB40 feat Ali Campbell, The Hollies, and more)
- Outdoor summer events (Kew The Music, Heritage Live, On The Mount)
- Film in concert events (Love Actually, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Blade Runner, Twilight)
- Branded content events (BBC Sound Of The 80s Live, Disney 100 in Concert)
- Live cinema events (Andre Rieu, Eurovision)
Required Experience:
Applicants should have some prior experience in a similar industry setting (work experience, internship).
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Passionate, outgoing, and eager to learn
- Meticulous, with a flair for pitching
- Enthusiastic with a keen awareness of the media landscape
- Able to handle multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- You must also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong grasp of Office 365.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pitching to writers, producers, and gatekeepers
- Crafting engaging press releases
- Securing media coverage and selling in stories
- Supporting promotional activities
You’ll have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the PR industry while diving into hands-on work.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence in speaking with artists, agents, managers, and journalists
- Strong writing ability with creative flair and attention to detail
- A passion for music, media, and entertainment culture
- Ability to work well under pressure and independently, while being a team player
- Excellent time management skills
