We are excited to be working with an independent firm of Accountants in Chester who are currently looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their small and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant who is lookingto join a well-established, reputable and independent accountancy practice. This is a full-time role and as Accounts Assistant you will be working as part of a small team responsible for supporting the Accountants with day to day accounts and bookkeeping duties.A friendly and professional working environment is on offer, hybrid working and further study support. **Role**:
As Junior Accountant you will be responsible for the entering and accuracy of financial records for a portfolio of clients. This will be a pivotal role supporting the Accountants relating to the maintenance of complete and accurate accounts.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Processing purchase invoices
- Supplier statement reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparing accounts
- Preparing payments runs
- Submitting VAT returns accurately
- Supporting with payroll where required
- General bookkeeping duties
- Managing client queries effectively

**Essential Skills**:

- Experience of working within practice is essential
- Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant/ Bookkeeping role
- Experience of using Sage, Xero or Quickbooks
- Strong Excel skills
- Positive working mentality
- Organised and methodical worker with the ability to prioritise tasks
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills across all levels within a business
- AAT or similar qualification is essential
