**Introduction**:
If you are an experienced Health and Safety Adviser, then this role might be for you. You will be the Regional Health and Safety Adviser for the Cumbria area. You will be implementing and promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the services, facilitating fire training, reviewing training material and delivering IOSH training to ensure services are kept up to date with the latest training, skills and knowledge throughout the sites.

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will be maintaining the risk assessment database for the region and will be responsible for overseeing accidents investigations alongside the relevant manager of the service.

Working alongside the Registered Care Home Managers, you will advise how the services to comply with local Health and Safety Regulations, including fire related concerns and preparation for audits and inspections.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- To provide health and safety information to the Cumbria Services. This may be acquired either from Corporate Office, from outside the Company or as a result of particular information from within the Unit.
- In conjunction with the regional training officer, develop an annual mandatory training programme which includes fire and emergency drills and any health and safety related training.
- Ensure new and existing staff receive training covering health and safety policies and procedures, practical fire procedures, use of firefighting equipment, hazard, accident, and incident reporting procedures.
- To monitor accidents, incidents, and near misses in the unit(s) and across Cumbria via the IRIS system, ensuring the accident reporting procedure is followed and by taking the relevant steps to minimise the risk of reoccurrence.
- To monitor all contractors and other persons in the units to ensure their compliance with health and safety regulations.
- To arrange regular risk assessments of all areas of the units and overseeing the actions from these by evaluating the effectiveness. To ensure that all advisors are completing the required risk assessments under current legislation and guidance.

- To chair the units health and safety meeting, and to attend corporate management/health and safety meetings with representatives from clinical/non-clinical departments as well as the Management. These minutes will be shared with all departments and other units.
- To attend the regional health and safety/security meeting and assist the Head of Service user Safety and Security within the meeting.

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**
- To obtain and maintain membership of IOSH
- Fire NEBOSH or equivalent is desirable
- Knowledge and experience within a healthcare environment (desirable)
- Up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.****:

- Desirable experience in a management or leadership role.
