**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Job Title: Behaviour and Attendance Mentor

Department/Group: Support staff / Pastoral

Level/Salary Range: Grade E

Reporting to: Behaviour and Intervention Manager

Contract term: Term Time plus 5 days including the Sept training day

Hours per week: 37

**Main Objectives of Role**:

- To provide professional, effective and efficient customer focussed HR & financial administrative support services to all stakeholders including students, staff, parents and other visitors
- To assist with the delivery of HR & financial administrative services in school and meet agreed quality and performance standards.
- To organise, manage and maintain the use of information systems.
- To maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times (moved up from resources)

**Organisation**
- Provide mentoring and counselling to pupils with SEMH/Behavioural or other needs as required under the direction of the behaviour intervention manager
- Accurately record the interventions carried out and support the Behaviour and Intervention Manager in evaluating the impact
- Establish excellent productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- Be aware of and respond appropriately to individual pupil needs ensuring effective intervention
- Provide specific support to pupils dependent upon their individual needs ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities
- Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage all pupils in activities
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement
- Promoting positive behaviour through the whole school rewards system including identification of pupils who have made significant improvement, identified through PowerBi ensuring celebration of positive pupil behaviour as identified through Steps to success (S2S)
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour whilst promoting self-control in line with established school policy
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers
- Provide interventions for attendance including home visits
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
- Attend relevant meetings
- To supervise pupils inside and outside the building at both morning break and lunchtime
- Under the direction of the person responsible for ‘cover’ to carry out the supervision of classes in the absence of their teacher, ensuring pupils engage in the work set, maintaining good order and a purposeful atmosphere as required

**General**
- Work collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners, demonstrating a positive ‘can do’ attitude and working as one team for the wider ‘team BFT’
- Limited flexibility with working hours on occasion beyond the usual working day, recognising the variable nature of workloads and deadlines. It must also be noted that the Trust strongly recognises the fundamental importance of a private and family life, and of adequate rest and recreation.
