Clinical Lead Infection Prevention

Clinical Lead IPC will play an instrumental part in ensuring support NEL ICB with service improvement and pathway redesign within a particular portfolio (see job description).
The core functions of the NEL ICB clinical or care professional leadership roles will be to contribute to the leadership of specific transformation programmes by providing advice, recommendations, and challenge, grounded in clinical and/ or care expertise.
The role requires an overall appreciation of relevant up to date clinical infection prevention & control issues to the ICB. To lead and support collaborative work across the ICB that is focused on health needs of the population in relation to IPC and in line with the organisation objectives.
The Clinical Lead IPC will be flexible and resilient, challenging and collaborating with partners to ensuring the delivery of safe, and robust services. A transformational leader responsible for creating a meaningful shift in the culture and development of NEL services; balancing the local residents voices and needs with the priorities set by the Integrated Care Board. Working collaboratively with partners the Clinical Lead IPC will address health inequalities and contribute to the setting of clear strategies and outcomes for the partnership, based on local needs and transformation priorities

You will undertake the following duties and responsibilities
- Support the IPC agenda through contributing to the Annual Plan
- Develop an awareness and maintain up to date knowledge of the key seasonal IPC issues
- Support the IPC Team through shared insight and clinical expertise.
- Lead the clinical and / or care input into relevant borough and NEL wide transformation programmes by providing advice, recommendations, and challenge grounded in clinical and/ or care expertise for the planning and re-design of pathways or service transformation
- Champion the local adoption of leading practice
- Act as the public face of clinical and/ or care led service transformation and improvement
- Lead local care engagement and act as advocate for the local care perspective on service improvement
- Build wider clinical and/ or care networks across primary, community, secondary and tertiary care and, exemplify collaborative working with all providers of health and care services
- Promote engagement with other care professionals and organisations who provide non-clinical care
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and other forums through where transformation is designed and delivered
- Contribute towards the development of relevant policies, information, standards, protocols and procedure
- Support understanding and approaches for resolving operational challenges in relevant areas of work
- Input into medium and long-term strategy development- The clinical and/ or care lead will work with the Chief Nursing and Medical Officers, other clinical and care professional and their relevant management leads to set an annual personal work plan and monitor progress against these. The clinical and/ or care lead is expected to be flexible to the system’s changing needs and available to support where their skills can offer most benefit.
