Are you an experienced financial assessment professional looking for a rewarding role within the public sector? West Berkshire Council is seeking a motivated Financial Assessment & Charging Officer to join our Adult Social Care Service, reporting to the Senior Financial Assessment & Charging Officer.

As a Financial Assessment & Charging Officer you will play a vital role in ensuring a consistent and fair approach when completing financial assessments, to promote affordable, sustainable support for people who require Adult Social Care services

**The Role**
Your key responsibilities will include:

- Explaining the Council's Charging for Adult Social Care Policy and undertaking financial assessments for individuals receiving adult social care services, ensuring accurate determination of charges and contributions.
- Processing financial information and maintaining accurate, comprehensive records.
- Providing welfare benefit advice and helping with benefit claims.
- Collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure effective information sharing and resolution of queries.
- Maintaining an up to date working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the Council's Charging for Adult Social care policy
- Experience in financial assessments within a social care environment
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation governing charging for care services
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- Excellent attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all aspects of your work
- Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise tasks effectively
- Commitment to continuous development of skills and knowledge
