Are you a **Scrutiny Officer **for a new opportunity? I’m working with an **Oxfordshire Council**
**Rate - £200 to 240 per day - negotiable dependent upon experience**
**6+Month Ongoing Contract**
**Your Role**
- To ensure that all Members of Scrutiny Committees are provided with comprehensive, high-quality and efficient support and advice to enable them to discharge their roles
- To be responsible for the management of two committees within the Scrutiny function, and ensuring they maximise the contribution of scrutiny to the development of policies linked to the council’s strategic priorities.
- To attend meetings of two Scrutiny Committees, Sub-Committees, Task and Finish Groups, Chair Briefings and other meetings with outside bodies, to provide advice and prepare and present reports, as require
- To provide independent and impartial advice and guidance to Scrutiny Members in relation to the discharge of their democratic roles and constitutional and governance issues
- To lead on investigative scrutiny exercises undertaken by the relevant Scrutiny Committees.
- To build an effective network of relationships with Elected Members, Senior Officers and partner organisations and establish an awareness of key developments
- Be politically and tactically astute with an understanding of how to influence key stakeholders.
- To monitor progress of work undertaken by the Scrutiny Committees.
