This role supports the delivery of high-quality communications through a range of channels and in line with our Communications strategy.

The role holder will provide a first-class communications service and should be comfortable dealing with external stakeholders, journalists and internal colleagues at every level in the organisation. Working in a fast-moving team, the role holder will be able to prioritise and manage several competing priorities, while delivering day-to-day tasks.

The role holder will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in the written form. They will need to be able to work both alone and as part of a team, using their own initiative and adopting a proactive approach to delivering workload.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Coordinate, write and deliver a range of engaging and informative communications across a range of externally facing channels to connect intended audience and drive understanding through engaging content
- Support the delivery of the Communications strategy, co-creating strategic content and ensuring the business narrative is reflected and embedded across all relevant channels
- Manage external messaging effectively through proactive and reactive communication with journalists and outlets
- Manage the strategic approach for communications and engagement campaigns to support and promote initiatives, projects and events using a range of appropriate channels
- Manage sponsorship relationships from negotiation through to agreement, and delivery and activation through to evaluation in line with the sponsorship strategy
- Identify relevant opportunities and use appropriate content to contribute to overall narrative
- Develop and maintain the communications plan for assigned areas/campaigns ensuring there is a clear and structured narrative in place
- Ensure all content is appropriate for audience and manage stakeholder expectations accordingly
- Keep the Communications Strategic plan updated
- Publish content to appropriate channels and ensure it is kept up-to-date and relevant
- Actively manage, monitor and promote and respond to the voice of our customers/external stakeholders/investors
- Measure the effectiveness and success of communications activity and challenge and learn lessons from analysis of the data
- Be an ambassador for communications both in terms of team reputation and support provision / standard of communications produced

**Knowledge, skills and experience needed**:

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Experience of dealing with and managing senior stakeholders (internal and external to the organisation) - confident in managing and providing counsel
- Ability to produce comms plans that appropriately line into business plans and strategy
- Experience of effective social media channel management
- Proven experience of working in an external communications environment, dealing with journalists and delivering excellent coverage across multiple channels (e.g. press office)
- Experience of sourcing and managing sponsorship opportunities and relationships
- Project Management skills and excellent eye for detail
- Management of budgets
- Great organisational skills and demonstrable use of initiative
- Ability to work on multiple priorities, manage competing deadlines and deliver projects from initiation to completion
- Experience of ghost and script writing
- Experience of delivering crisis communications strategies
- Business Partnering experience

**Desirable**:

- Good computer literacy, including understanding of Microsoft 365 skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint
- Professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations or equivalent
- Knowledge of the Financial Services industry and customer-facing environments
