This advert is open to Internal and External applicants.
You will be responsible for providing a high quality education welfare service to school age children, schools and settings in Stoke-on-Trent.
You will:
- ensure that all children of compulsory school age receive education as required by law.
- take prompt action when appropriate to resolve or prevent attendance or welfare problems, considering the use of parental responsibility measures and escalating any cases through the formal court proceedings where required.
- work in partnership with children, young people, parents / carers and education settings to understand and remove barriers that prevent children and young people attending school as expected.
- work in partnership with schools, alternative providers and independent settings to implement the DFE’s Working Together to Improve Attendance Guidance.
- work with schools to ensure effective attendance processes are developed and implemented.
You will have proven experience of working with children, young people, families and within education and have in-depth experience and knowledge of preventative and statutory education welfare strategies and school attendance legislation.
You will be also able to build effective working relationships and be persuasive, persistent and challenging when required.
