We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join one of Europe's largest privately owned property companies with c.£9 billion of world-wide investments and ongoing developments. The group's commercial real estate investment track record spans across the UK, ContinentalEurope, and the Americas.
Supporting the General Counsel, you will work on a wide range of legal matters with a primary focus on real estate. Such matters will typically involve landlord and tenant issues, construction, development and planning matters, supporting acquisitions and disposals,and generally reviewing commercial contracts.
Typical tasks will include drafting and interpreting legal documents in support of the activities of our different business units, as well as providing on-going legal advice on a wide range of real estate issues and in response to queries from the differentbusiness teams. As in-house legal counsel you will also be expected to assist with corporate and real estate finance, general business queries and litigation matters.
Roles and Responsibilities:

- provide accurate and timely legal support to L+R's vertically integrated businesses with respect to corporate matters, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, financings, development transactions, and property-level operational matters
- review and negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documentation required for investment and the operational activities of the business
- communicate with external stakeholders
- conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
- stay current on emerging issues and market practices in the real estate industry
- liaise with colleagues and peers in a professional manner at all times
- maintain up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the group's assets, services and procedures
- coordinate external counsel and other external advisers, including quality control and rigorous efficiency/ cost management.

**Requirements**:

- be able to provide commercial and pragmatic solutions in a clear and concise way
- excellent written and verbal communication skills specifically in relation to drafting legal agreements/documents
- proven ability to integrate into a business quickly as this position will require excellent knowledge of the business (locally and internationally) and a thorough understanding of the organisation's strategic objectives
- a team player with good social and communication skills including personal tact and integrity
- a self-starter with a positive attitude, capable of managing a number of diverse matters simultaneously and comfortable working independently
- Excellent project management skills and ability to take initiative in an open and collaborative approach
- ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential items with tact and discretion
- good managing, planning and organisational skills
- capable of working efficiently, meeting deadlines and maintaining perspective

Qualifications / Experience:

- 2 to 4 years PQE
- UK qualified solicitor
- Experience in: Commercial Real Estate;
- Trained/worked at a top UK or US firm
- Desirable: In-house experience either in-house or secondment
- Desirable: General and/or Construction and /or Planning experience

**Benefits**:
