**What you’ll be doing**
You'll be responsible for the design of emergency and reactive infrastructure projects ranging from the replacement of pressure mains to complex below ground structures. You must have extensive hands-on detail design experience for this position and be ableto lead a team of 6-10 engineers for the delivery of a large portfolio of projects comprising:

- Sewer Rehab programme of works
- Critical Sewers including sewers in rail environment programme of works
- Rising Mains renewal programme of works
- Complex reactive and emergency projects
It is vital that you and your team take an active role in supporting the Project Managers in achieving the project milestones.
This is a high profile and demanding position and you’ll attend emergency situations with our contractors to make the site safe and implement a viable solution in an expeditious manner.
**The key responsibilities include**:

- Lead a team of design engineers to meet time and cost targets whilst ensuring that asset and environmental standards are achieved
- Ensure compliance with the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and carry out the Principal Designer’s duties
- Take an active role in improving H&S performance
- Ensure Thames Water procedures and processes are adhered to
- Support the other technical teams to ensure efficient delivery of the AMP7 Waste Infrastructure Capital Delivery programme
- Manage the customers’ expectations and engage with stakeholders accordingly

**We’re looking for you to**:

- **Have extensive infrastructure design experience in the water industry** including operational requirements
- **Be degree qualified and a Member**of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent
- **Be a credible leader** with the drive and energy to deliver, lead and support teams
- **Have a proven track record** in performance improvement
- **Be self-starting, resilient and tenacious under pressure**, with a desire to successfully deliver projects to time, cost, and quality
- **Be commercially astute** with a good practical understanding of engineering contracts
- **Demonstrate the ability to deliver projects** to meet both commercial and technical objectives
- **Have excellent relationship, communication** and influencing skills, to clearly interact with our customers and stakeholders
- **Deliver exceptional customer service** through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
