Senior Project Manager

**The role and what you will be doing**:
A fantastic opportunity to become part of the Capital Delivery Project Management team and to have overall responsibility for a large, complex part of the programme. We currently have specific Lead roles on our High Speed 2, sewers in the rail environment,sewer rehabilitation, emergency works programmes.
As the **Senior Project Manager**, you will be the single point of accountability and management for the delivery of several projects within the London Water or Wastewater Infrastructure (below-ground works) programme whilst directing and developingpeople in a culture of accountability and achievement.
This will be achieved by managing and assuring the performance of contractors and service providers to deliver project outcomes to time cost and quality. This will involve working closely with and influencing high level internal and external stakeholders.
You'll have the opportunity to also plan and focus on the development and continuous improvement of the project team and supply chain, continually aiming to deliver enhanced health, safety & environment outcomes, customer delight and excellent commercial performance.
**Main responsibilities will include**:

- Development and delivery of optimised projects to achieve all regulatory, statutory, and internal outputs, deadlines, and targets
- Delivery of sustainable financial out-performance against approved budgets for complex and high-risk projects
- Direct a customer focussed culture continually focussing on the pursuit of excellence in service delivery to both internal and external customers for complex and high-risk projects
- Management of change and deal with all contracts matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water
- Delivery of successful technical solutions that provide optimal value for money on capital and whole life cost basis
- Proactively manage project risk to minimise the final impact
- Ensure quality systems and processes are complied with so outcomes meet all standards
- Achieve best practices in the safe and sustainable delivery of capital projects, as well as their subsequent operation and maintenance
- Provide assured compliance with statutory obligations and embed leading indicators
- Encourage and implement innovation from the supply chain to develop a continuous improvement project culture

**We’re looking for you to**:

- Possess a zero-tolerance attitude on the **importance of health and safety**:

- Be educated to degree level with further professional or management qualifications or have **outstanding role-specific experience**:

- Have an excellent **commercial approach** and contractual awareness of **project management** work within Water or Waste Networks with experience in complex investment-type decisions
- Have a demonstrable record of **managing the performance** of stakeholders, contractors and suppliers
- Be able to display a proven track record of **success in the delivery of significant capital projects** at a senior level
- Have a proven background in **process improvement in design and implementation capabilit**y
- Be clear-thinking, positive, and **calm approach to challenges** that may arise
- Have the ability to make **exposure to risk decisions with implications wider than own area**
