Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open. **What you’ll be doing** Major Projects are responsible for delivering large complex single-site projects >£30m in value. Once a need has been validated, the Major Projects Team is responsible for the Definition, Outline Design, Execution, and Closedown Stages. Each project will typically require 12-18 months to complete all activities up to the award of the main contract with the design and build contract subsequently being delivered over several years. During the pre-contract period, we will need to complete a study,consider the options and feasibility of the solution, develop the procurement strategy, reference solution, and procure and award the main contract. In this key role, you will be responsible for providing the commercial management and assurance for several projects’, supporting the Project Managers and their teams. **Key areas of responsibility include**: - **Monthly Cost Forecasting/Reporting**: Ensure cost management against the budget, highlighting commercial issues early, including managing and reporting on contingency/risk - **Estimating**_:_ Manage the cost estimating process using our Estimating Team; understand Business Plan budgets, validate the estimated cost of the project, and check its affordability against the Business Plan. Providing insight andadvice into estimates - **Procurement Support**: Obtain and review quotes for works and services. Ensure suppliers and contractors are engaged under the most appropriate Terms & Conditions. Provide commercial support during the procurement of the main contract includingundertaking commercial evaluation, benchmarking, and negotiation of tenders - **Contract Management**: Contract administration includes change management; producing correspondence, monitoring/recording change, risk management, and performance management; and communicating contractual lessons learned. - **Governance**_:_ Ensure we always maintain financial governance; provide expert input to financial and contract governance proposals - **Dispute Advice**: Resolving claims as required, providing commercial advice and guidance. - **Guidance**: As the Senior member of the commercial team provide commercial advice and guidance to other team members as required **We’re looking for you to**: - Be educated at a degree level in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is required for this role - Be a chartered Quantity Surveyor or at later stages of assessment - Be enthusiastic and can take ownership of tasks, think on their feet, devise plans of action, and deliver effective solutions - Have meticulous attention to detail - Hold your ground and offer reasoned advice in a fast-paced environment - Hold In-depth knowledge of infrastructure and the water industry is preferable - Have excellent commercial and contractual knowledge is required - Have excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills required - Have an excellent understanding of the costs and risks associated with the delivery of projects - Hold knowledge of the water industry and business knowledge is preferable - Hold excellent communication skills - Be a Self-starter, resilient, and able to cope under pressure **What’s in it for you?** Lift the lid of the UK water industry and you might be surprised with what you find - we are changing like neverIn the drive to deliver more environmental sustainability, we are seeking to become one of the biggest producers of green energy in the UK, wehave some of the most complex assets in the country built by some of the most famous Victorians.
