This role is to provide support for construction projects to ensure a smooth preparation and delivery of such projects in view of EHS requirement and maintaining safe conduct in all project phases by all involved parties and contractors.

The role can report into the Senior Directors of the company or the Engineering Manager of the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All employees are legally responsible for their own health and safety as well as those who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

Identify gaps in legislative compliance, SW guideline compliance and review EHS performance information. In conjunction with the site management, develop plans to close any gaps in view of the capital projects being worked on.

To ensure local EHS procedures, SW standards and UK legislation are identified for the preparation of capital projects and all project activities are being worked on to ensure the requirements are met. This will include compliance with the CDM (2015) Regulations.

To facilitate process safety processes such as job hazard analyses, HAZOP and PSSR (pre-start-up safety reviews).

Maintain appropriate EHS records, data and timely reporting

Ensure accelerated root cause (ARC) analysis investigation is completed for all serious incidents, appropriate action is identified and ensure all actions are closed.

Have responsibility for Permit to work management for site projects - arranging for the issuing of the correct permits to contractors/suppliers. Ensure daily construction operations are carried out according to permits and Standards.

Use hierarchy of control measures to minimise exposure to hazardous substances, and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, manual handling and other hazards.

Ensure efficient EHS communication via EHS Committee Meetings and regular project progress meetings. Promote safety messaging at the start of every meeting. Promote a continually improving safety culture of the site and in the project work.

External liaison with regulators, consultants, trade and professional bodies to ensure compliance and capture best practice.

Planning and completion of project EHS audits, and other internal audits Identify, develop and facilitate appropriate safety, health and environmental training, CDM inductions and refresher training.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years of professional HSE experience in a construction environment
- Fully conversant with CDM (2015) Regulations
- Overseeing health, safety, and environmental incidents investigations;
- Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
