£29,777 - £33,024 per year. (Grade 7). The Private Sector Housing Team are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Technical Officer to work within our busy team. You will have a varied workload and will be required to deal with service requests relating to private housing, to carry out inspections, assess property conditions and prepare reports. **Post title**: Technical Officer **Post number**: PL.67911 **Salary**: £29,777 - £33,024 per year **Directorate/department**: Place **Further information**: Holding an HND in Building or equivalent, you will have a high level of technical competence to enable you to carry out inspections of a wide range of private sector residential properties including private rentals and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). The postholder will be required to manage and prioritise a high and varied caseload under minimum supervision, including - Carrying out visits, inspections, and investigations, assessing housing and public health conditions and preparing inspection reports. - Carrying out housing surveys using the housing health and safety rating system. Preparing reports of conditions, schedules of work and initiating legal action, including service of notice as appropriate. - Carrying out follow-up monitoring visits and inspections to ensure compliance with statutory notices. - Liaising with landlords, owners, agents, and tenants and advise on the appropriate requirements of housing and public health legislation. Applicant will need to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and have a proficient level of computer literacy and ability to use relevant IT systems.
