Coventry, United Kingdom SEVERN TRENT Full time

Hello, we’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. Oh, and we’re pretty keen on people too.

24 hours a day, 365 days a year we serve 4.8 million households and business across the heart of the UK. Each cuppa drank and every toilet flushed is only possible because of the 7,000 brilliant team members working across our patch.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

**EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW**

Providing an essential service to millions of customers across our patch means we have an extremely busy press office that operates at a national and regional level. To help support our team share the great work we’re delivering, we’re looking to recruit a **Press Officer** on an initial 18-month contract.

In this role, you’ll be helping to protect and promote our reputation with the media, our customers and with our stakeholders in the communities in which we operate. We’ll be looking for you to develop relationships with key journalists that will help generate positive media coverage and respond quickly to media enquiries.

You’ll also organise media interviews, brief spokespeople and often represent the company yourself in interviews, whilst also confidently managing issues and liaising with the media in the event of incidents.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

- Working within the busy press office on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that we manage all media interest whilst protecting and promoting the reputation of the business
- Helping to promote core successes and strengths through writing and selling in press releases and features
- Developing and implementing a programme of proactive PR campaigns that support the broader business strategy and promote our core strengths
- Devising and producing content for proactive media campaigns
- Writing and preparing media releases for day-to-day news, as well as large corporate announcements
- Monitoring media coverage and preparing regular evaluation reports

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**

We’re looking for our new Press Officer to be a great communicator, both verbally and written as well as having the passion and creativity to bring new ideas to the table to help make our service even better. You’ll have a proven track record of working in a busy press office and will have the skills to deliver effective communications during incidents and working under pressure.

You’ll need to be a real team player. Someone who is willing to learn all about our complex business and then go and build relationships and make contacts at all levels both internally and externally.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude we want to talk to you too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care.

**Is that you?**

**WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU**

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent, and we’ll reward you for it too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.

With that in mind, here are just some of our favourite's perks that you’ll get being part of the Seven Trent family:

- Salary of £28,000 - £34,000
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)
- Leading pension scheme - we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
