We are looking to reinforce and expand our Stores Administration Data Base.

Dstl is the science, engineering and technology arm of the Ministry of Defence. It exists to maximise the impact of science and technology for the defence and security of the UK. The Stores Management Capability is key to supporting a variety of Dstl Business areas.

The team provides a key assurance role supporting Dstl and its customers focussing on the through-life management of Military and Project Equipment.

You will play a pivotal part in the team supporting Dstl and key stakeholder with day to day management of the stores database including; data management, data input, auditing the Management System, working with the database manager, stores movement and associated documentation as well as assisting with packaging, storage, control and logístical support.

At times working remotely checking database and stores, packing and unpacking stores for movement and creating paperwork within the stores management system. Carrying out regular audits of the stores holdings. There will also be a requirement to assist in key stakeholder visits and displays of equipment.

**Job description**:
**In this role you will**:

- Maintaining the database as necessary.
- Work throughout the Dstl site assisting with data capture and entry.
- Ensure stores data is accurately captured, providing assurance that Dstl has reliable records and an auditable trail for safety and security processes and to inform the decision making process.
- Identify database enhancements and have the ability to execute them.
- Under direction of the Database Manager ensure effective and efficient day-to-day management of data input.
- Provide timely response to requests maintaining flexibility as priorities change.
- Maintain required security and access controls.
- Flexibility to work across the Dstl and MoD Estate.
- Recognise and escalate health and safety concerns.
- Provide support to Logistics Operations.

**Person specification**:
**We are looking for someone who has**:

- Previous experience of database administration and development.
- The ability to work flexibly as part of an effective team or individual and provide timely response to requests as priorities change.
- Good organisation and communications skills.
- An understanding of stores management and stock control processes.
- The ability to produce and maintain accurate documentation with a keen eye for detail.
- A desire to support others to be effective and efficient on shared work
- Experience in designing and developing databases or similar software tools.
- Commitment to continuing personal development in terms of developing own knowledge, skills and competencies.
- An enthusiasm and aptitude for database creation, data input and IT technology.
- An inquisitive nature and has the desire to design and improve on what is currently possible.
- The ability to anticipate problems with software and equipment, identify solutions and solve blockers.

**Important Information***

This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.

Individuals within DSTL who hold dual nationality and currently hold the required clearance level may apply. If found suitable for the role further security discussions will need to take place before a formal offer can be made.
