We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our really awesome team in our sparkly new role of Community Housing Assistant. Your role in a nutshell, is to make our customers happy

It’s not just about providing our customers with a home, it’s about building relationships with them. This means that when it comes to those situations that are a bit difficult or tricky (which do happen from time to time) we make them easier to deal with.

Yes, you’ll collect rent, chase arrears, fill void properties, manage estates and deal with anti-social behaviour, but it’s so much more than that. It’s also about working closely with your colleagues to make sure that where our customers need support, we help them to live their best lives

As our Community Housing Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to work in supported accommodation, supporting to manage tenancy and rent accounts. You’ll support our customers with their housing benefit claims and make sure that these are received on their rent account.

You’ll also turn around vacant bed spaces so that new customers who need our help can move in quickly. You’ll also make sure our service achieves maximum occupancy, and that we are health and safety compliant

You’ll support our Housing Managers by carrying out generic Housing Management activities including arrears, void management, estate management, customer involvement, income management, lettings and other related tasks. You will also work towards meeting challenging targets and support our all-important routine safety and compliance checks and record them in a timely and accurate fashion, and signpost customers to our Customer Service Centre.

**About you**

You're passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have a genuine desire to help your customers. You are a real collaborator, working with colleagues in your region, external partners as well as our Customer Service Centre colleagues, and our Housing Managers.

You’ll use your creative spark and keen eye for detail to ensure our properties and environments are safe secure and well managed, supporting our communities to thrive. Naturally empathetic, you build rapport quickly and have a sound understanding of maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. It will also be brilliant if you have an understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit too

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe)

It’s important to us that you’ve had a job in a housing or customer facing environment before. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group

As this is a Mobile working and community-based job, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle which has been insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use
- When you join as a Community Housing Assistant, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one._

**About our team**

You’ll join our outgoing team, full of diverse characters, who are all friendly, helpful, and supportive (great news for newbies). The Team is led by Yvonne, who’s worked for Home Group since 2014.

Yvonne started as a Support Worker and took full advantage of all the training and experience we offer here at Home Group, so is perfectly placed to support you as you join. She is supported (and couldn’t do without) our Client Services Manager, Shannon, who started as a Support Worker in CRT in Teesside, Durham and Sunderland.

Working with varied teams throughout the region you’ll also benefit from working with teams with specialist housing experience with voids, rent arrears collection and ASB.

**Where and when you’ll do your job**

You’ll work across Durham, Teesside and Sunderland but you will have specific responsibility for our properties, estates and supported accommodation within Teesside. Instead of just working i
