We are looking for a number of dynamic Board Trustees to support several organisations in voluntary positions giving up a few hours a month to help these sports organisations grow. We are interested in people from within or external to the Sports sector.You must have a passion for working for the benefit of the public and be inspired to support our clients’ visions.
The Board Finance Trustee is the responsible board member that provides advice, guidance, and reassurance on all aspects of financial management, reporting, control systems, solvency, and investments.
**Board Trustees key duties are to**:
- Oversee, approve, and present budgets, accounts, and financial statements.
- Report to the board on the financial resources, ensuring they meet its present and future needs.
- Protect, review, and support the proper investment of funds.
- Present financial reports to the board of trustees.
- Advise on the financial implications of strategic plans and oversee the financial risk-management process.
- Lead on the board’s duty to ensure that financial resources are properly controlled, invested, and economically spent in line with good governance.
- Review and support the preparation and disclosure of the accounts in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, e.g. the charity commission and/or the registrar of companies.
- Ensure that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented.
- Inform the board of trustees about its financial duties and responsibilities.
- To work collaboratively with the Audit & Probity Committee and Chair.
- Undertake board-level liaison with external auditors.
- Chair the finance committee and attend sub-committee meetings where appropriate in line with their terms of reference, reporting back to the board.

**Board Trustees Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience in**:
Experience in:
- Identifying success criteria and high performing standards for organisations.
- Making recommendations for organisational change and practice.
- Reviewing financial reports, performance, and external audits.
Skills in:
- Proven interpersonal, communication and people skills, an objective and enquiring mind, and a positive attitude
- Communicating priority information and recommendations that can be easily and effectively interpreted and applied.
- Risk identification, reduction and management.
- Financial reporting.
- Chairing meetings.
Essential Qualifications and Professional Membership in:
- Accountancy / equivalent professional skills and/or qualifications ACCA, ACA, CIMA OR CIPFA
