Mars Horsecare is an extremely agile business that manages the production, storage, and despatch from a single site in Milton Keynes. The business typically distributes around 65Kt of feed per year, all of which is in paper bags and on agricultural pallets, except for a small number of exported loads which go out on 1200x1000 pallets and into containers.
The Logistics & Customer Services Coordinator provides Supply Chain support for Mars Horsecare by overseeing all required transport services by the operational and strategic needs of the business along with day-to-day customer service activities. This will be achieved by ensuring our current supply chain partners, and customer services processes are giving the best value for money, looking for alternative solutions while continuing to provide exceptional levels of service, and working closely with all internal and external customers.
**What are we looking for?**:
- You have at least **2 years of significant experience in a similar role**
- You have a** clear understanding of the Supply Chain**, confidence in analysis coupled with the ability to look at new ways of working, planning, suppliers/haulers, and implementation.
- Understanding of the transportation documentation, planning, routing, and costing of haulage
- You're an enthusiastic team player, and always contribute to problem-solving
- You're adaptable, able to work independently with great attention to detail
- IT literate: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
**What will be your key responsibilities?**:
- Ensure the smooth and timely freight process flow to all customers in line with the Mars 5 Principles
- To continually review and develop the supply chain solutions, and customer services activities within the business to deliver a least-cost physical route to market in line with customer needs
- Manage the current annual volume of up to 66k tonnes and an annual logistics budget of £1.1m
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operating system for customers’ orders and freight
- Relationship management with all logistic partners. The warehouse and both internal and external customers, ensuring timely movement and delivery of freight to customers
- Manage the day-to-day transport/haulage function including negotiations on haulage rates.
- Export requirements and container arrangement, ensuring documents are timely and sent out for customs purposes
- Focus and reduction on damages and complaints - working with both customers and haulers
- Arrange and deal with all products exported, and create new ways of working following Brexit.
- Understand departmental process flows to drive to improve our OTIF service level target of a minimum 90% and drive improvements YOY
- Ensuring all Supply Chain Quality processes are adhered to.
- Participate and take a high profile with the S&OP+ process and business planning
- Control the timely invoicing of all haulage and pallet return, including all relevant paperwork with reconciliation at period end
- Attend daily operations meetings to bring relevant updates and issues
- Work as part of the overall team on a rotation basis and weighbridge cover
